Bullying can happen anywhere. Schools can be rife with bullies harassing and abusing queer and trans young people. But bullying can also be found at home, within extended families, during team sports, on the school bus, on mass transit, in neighborhoods and religious communities — in short, anywhere people gather.

Discuss with your tween or teen any harassment or bullying they may be experiencing at school, whether the source be another student, a teacher, or another member of the school's staff. And ask about the other places where bullying can occur that are listed above.

I encourage anyone visiting this page to check out the resources found in "someone else's" list below. Just because a parent isn't a mentor, for instance, doesn't mean that the parent won't find something useful in the list for mentors.
