A young trans woman, who may be Latine, is peering out from behind a rainbow pride flag.

Unfortunately, due to the bigotry and/or lack of understanding about what TGNC (trans and gender non-conforming) children and youth experience, state legislatures across the country are passing alarming and dangerous laws restricting access to healthcare for TGNC children and youth (and, sometimes, even adults). These actions have been exacerbated by a raft of anti-trans executive orders and other actions by the Trump administration, as well as the summer 2025 Skrmetti decision by the Supreme Court, which clears the way for states to ban gender-affirming care for young people.

In response, some of our most-respected healthcare providers in the US, even in blue states, are stopping some or all care they've provided for years to TGNC young people.

This is an area that ultra-right-wing politicians have sunk their teeth into with gusto, leading to unquantifiable pain for TGNC people and their families, friends, loved ones, schools, and communities.

Trans and gender-nonconforming tweens and teens have died by suicide due to these laws and will continue to do so until courts overturn them or legislators and governors come to their senses.

If you live in one of these states, first, i offer you my deepest sympathy for the additional challenges that your government has put in your path. Nothing justifies the actions of your legislators and governor. You should not be confronting the situation that you are.

None of that, of course, makes this any better as you work on figuring out how to help your young person in this new political, medical, and cultural reality.

You'll note that some of the resources below are state- or region-specific. While those aren't generally things i've included in other parts of R2T2, i have here because people's needs are based on where they're located and where they may need to go to seek services or to move.

See the additional context provided by the "level-setting" section of R2T2.
