To healthcare workers who support TGNC children and youth
Why? These facilities have repeatedly been viciously targeted by conservative groups (PDF), often with outright lies about the services they provide, leading to days or weeks of harassment, both online and in real life. And even without that level of hate and violence, these healthcare providers are literally saving lives by supporting TGNC young people and their families.
See if there are healthcare facilities, especially hospitals, that provide therapy, hormones, and other services (PDF) to young people in your community. You can send either electronic or "real" gift cards to individuals providers or to teams/departments. See the contact information or provider list on a facility's relevant webpage.
Other groups for which to show your appreciation
- Teachers and other educators
- Your school librarian may love a gift card to buy books — but consider checking with them first on whether this would be useful and how much freedom they may have to order what they'd like.
- Mental healthcare providers
- Mentoring programs that include a specific focus on queer and trans young people
- Organizations dedicated to supporting adults who are parenting queer and trans young people
- Queer- and trans-inclusive youth group leaders, religious leaders, camp directors and counselors, and coaches.
